I wonder if the oral contraceptive pill would be prescribed and taken so widely if more people were aware of how the pill affects the brain, and consequently the mental health, of women taking it. Homeopathy offers a natural, effective and gentle solution to physical as well as mental & emotional issues often experienced by endometriosis sufferers.
Lately, we are becoming more and more aware, through women voicing how they feel as well as recent scientific research, of the influence the oral contraceptive pill has on women’s mental health. Social Psychologist, Dr Sarah E Hill in Texas, has recently published her research about how changing women’s sex hormones influences their brains. Her research confirms my personal experience as well as what my patients and women in general have been saying for years. Click here to find out more about Dr Hill’s research. She says:
”The stress hormone profile of pill-taking women, research suggests, is similar to people who have experienced chronic stress. Other research has found effects on the immune system, learning and memory.”
No doubt, the pill, along with abortion, has been a big contributor to the freedom of many women all over the world, but like most things the pill comes with various flipsides. One being that it compromises the mental health of a large amount of users. It appears to me that better solutions have not been sought since the pill can keep many of the symptoms females suffer through menstruating at bay, although many endometriosis sufferers are put on two different types of pills simultaneously. Click here for my last blog about endometriosis sufferers being prescribed two different types of contraceptives. Seemingly, a vast number of women are not prescribed the pill for contraception but for managing a whole host of symptoms connected to the female reproductive system, including endometriosis.
The long and short of it is that it isn’t a great idea to suppress and/or introduce synthetic hormones into the delicate endocrine system (that’s the system that produces hormones that regulate our metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep and mood, among other things) as it upsets the balance needed for us to feel good. Still, I fully understand why the pill is prescribed and also why women agree to take it (I did that too!) in the belief that the pill is the only solution available (besides surgery and pain relief). Would they be prescribed, or taken as widely, if more people were aware that many women around the world are saying that homeopathy helped them overcome endometriosis and all the other ailments sufferers report they suffer from too?
Homeopathy is a holistic treatment
Homeopathy addresses physical, mental & emotional symtoms, both current symptoms (even if they seemingly don’t have anything to do with each other) as well as the underlying reason we are susceptible to suffering certain diseases or producing various symptoms. During the first consultation, we go through all current symptoms, not just symptoms concerning endometriosis (the growth of uterine tissue outside of the uterus). We also go through the list of other symptoms, such as digestive issues (often IBS), UTIs, painful & bleeding cysts, signs of low immunity such as herpes, low grade fevers, coughs & colds, etc., as well as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and exhaustion, to name a few problems often mentioned by my patients.
In addition to your physical ailments, we will also discuss and address your mental health. What your general mental health is like and what it is like during flare-ups. Besides remedies for physical issues, homeopathy offers many remedies addressing the state of mind (sadness, anger, depression, grief, having an aversion to or needing company, etc.).
One of the first signs of healing I often notice in follow-up appointments is that my patients have become more resilient and at ease since beginning treatment, their voice carries better too. Because I recommend remedies to treat the actual problem, and also remedies to take during physical as well as mental & emotional flare-ups of the other issues too, symptoms that in the past have been dragging on for long usually disappear much quicker and are less severe. It’s quite simple really, the less severe symptoms and shorter flare-ups, the better you will feel.
